When I first started uploading videos etc, back in 2007, I always wondered if the people in St Maarten and the Caribbean were seeing my postings.
Once I got comfortable working with the different systems, I could actually read the data and stats, to see who were reading my blogs, and watching my videos.
Much to my surpise, although we brought in roughly 15 million hits in 2008 alone, St Maarten/St Martin were black holes on all of the virtual maps.
You can find Aruba, you can find Rwanda, you cannot find St Maarten.
There is a reason for it. Part of the reason according to Antonio Brown at GEBE, is that fiber optic cables were installed over a decade ago, under then GEBE leader Lambert. Once Brooks got into office, he was such an egomaniacal monster, he refused to touch anything that his predecessor had created, including the brand new fiber optics.
Fiber optics is what makes your internet service run at lightening speed. When it comes to the internet and online presence, St Maarten is basically still using rotary phones.
It takes me FOUR hours to upload one four minute video in SXM sometimes, same video takes me 2 minutes in the USA.
St Maarten and its leaders need to be dragged into the 21st century.
Everything was blamed on Brooks, now there appears to have been some changes at GEBE.
If GEBE believes that we are going to let them off lightly in these blogs, they are crazy.
We fully intend to blog about the incompetence of GEBE MANAGEMENT! We have no issues with GEBE staff, just the bureaucrats. When I go to pay my bill, the staff is great, so it's not about them.
One of the first topics that we will be researching, is St Maarten's virtual non existence as a country online.
Everybody from Bliss, to Maho, to the St Maarten Government, promote themselves, but cannot invest a cent in the promotions of St Maarten.
Luckily the St Maarten Government has provided us with nothing but content.
It's Helen Paradise will officially launch February 1st 2011
